“Its someone else’s problem, until it affects me…”
DEFINITION
Choosing to ignore what appears to be other people’s problem until personally affected.
EXPLANATION
CLARIFICATIONS Adhering to inalienable universal rules are always in everyone’s best interest. They are never only ‘someone else’s problem’.
EXEMPLIFICATIONS Care often correlates with proximity, or personal sentiment. To a certain degree, there is some sense to this philosophy. However, there are inalienable universal rules that should always be defended. These universal rules are in place to upkeep the morals required to preserve humanity. Ignoring the breaking of these principles is the silent way to assist inequities.
AFFIRMATIONS Ignoring the occurrence of inequalities is a second hand contribution to inequalities.
CONSIDERATIONS The uniformed support, or lack of it for these universal rules determines whether we live in an equal or unequal society. An example of such a rule is the Right of Sow And Reap principle. Any infringement of these rules makes it harder to live in an equal society. People usually only ignore inequalities due to lack of care, fear, or inability to make effective change. People who comply via ignorance are often in a better societal position, and or fear ending up in a worse position. Those who are most affected by this ignorance of universal rules, are prone to social alienation. They usually develop a tendency to be ‘free thinkers’. However, their cries are frequently unheard, or ignored.
THESIS
